Gallop Ahead in the Year of the Horse
According to the Chinese zodiac calendar the Year of the Horse began on Friday 31st January shortly after the New moon. The question is how will this New Year impact on our health and wellbeing? Woodside Acupuncture’s acupuncture and massage therapist Angela Wallis explains.
It is believe the animals in the Chinese zodiac calendar originated from the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD), during which they were used to count years in the same way as the Christian calendar.
The Chinese Zodiac is based on a 12-year cycle and each year in that cycle is related to an animal sign. The Horse is one of these signs which also include the Dog, the Snake and the Rabbit. Everyone has a specific animal sign dependent on the year they were born.
Those with the birth dates of 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002 or 2014 are said to be born in the Year of the Horse. Personality-wise they are thought to be energetic, bright and intelligent characters with excellent communication skills. In general it is suggested Horse types are popular and talented, enjoy being in the limelight and love entertaining. Being associated strongly with success, people born in the year of the Horse cannot stand failure.
What’s in store for us in 2014?
Expect a time of fast moving victories, unexpected adventure and high energy. You need to act quickly – decisive action and no procrastination are key – however if you are not 100% sure about a decision then don’t do it. Events move quickly in a Horse year so be careful not to gallop off in the wrong direction.
Whether you want to buy a new home, launch a business, travel the world, get a promotion at work or improve your health, follow your instincts and take the leap.
The casual and outdoorsy character of a Horse year means returning to nature, enjoying life and all its adventures. With all the fun things happening, good times and distractions, you won’t always want to concentrate on work, however keep focused to reap the rewards.
As Horse types enjoy living in the moment and don’t care about money, you might be tempted to overspend this year on entertainment and going out, so be aware of that and prepare for the future.
This year is meant to bring good health however don’t over-do the fun and entertainment as burn-out could follow. Overall enjoy the fast-paced, high energy spirit of this year.
